COVID-19: 64 travellers among 507 fresh cases, tally mounts to 24,897 in JK | KNO

Srinagar, Aug 09 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday recorded 507 fresh cases of COVID-19 pandemic including 64 travellers, taking the total number of positive cases to 24,897 in the Union Territory. With 507 new cases, the tally of positive cases in J&K has reached to 24,897, including 19,286 from Kashmir and 5,611 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 507 new cases, 378 belong to Kashmir division while as 129 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 19,286 including 13,237 recoveries while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 5,611 including 3,766 recoveries and 35 deaths. They added that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 7,422 including 5,612 from Kashmir division and 1,810 from Jammu division. With 336 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 17,003 which is 68.29 percent of the total cases. Pertinently, Srinagar district alone has 6,155 positive cases which is more than the total number of positive cases in Jammu division where total cases are 5,611 "Cases tested positive in J&K include 155 from Srinagar, 44 from Baramulla, 22 from Pulwama, 15 from Kulgam, 06 from Shopian, 32 from Anantnag, 10 from Budgam, 26 from Kupwara, 50 from Bandipora and 18 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 129 from Jammu division include 42 from Jammu, 05 from Kathua, 02 from Rajouri, 13 from Ramban, 04 from Udhampur, 32 from Samba, 09 from Doda, 10 from Poonch and 12 from Reasi," officials disclosed. As per officials figures, 6,155 positive cases including 152 deaths and 3,603 recoveries are from Srinagar, 2,137 including 82 deaths and 1,614 recoveries from Baramulla, 1,829 including 1,108 recoveries and 30 deaths from Pulwama,1,609 including 1,410 recoveries and 30 deaths from Kulgam, 1,520 including 24 deaths and 1,308 recoveries from Shopian, 1,553 including 33 deaths and 1,186 recoveries from Anantnag, 1,533 including 1,054 recoveries and 35 deaths from Budgam, 1,256 including 976 recoveries and 26 deaths from Kupwara, 1,022 including 611 recoveries and 18 deaths from Bandipora and 672 including 367 recoveries and 07 deaths from Ganderbal. In Jammu division, 1,555 including 814 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Jammu district, 758 including 525 recoveries and 03 deaths from Rajouri, 589 including 535 recoveries and 01 death from Ramban, 594 including 504 recoveries and 01 death from Kathua, 623 including 415 recoveries and two deaths from Udhampur, 517 including 332 recoveries and 01 death from Samba, 311 including 261 recoveries and 02 deaths from Doda, 275 including 173 recoveries and 01 death from Poonch, 226 including 80 recoveries from Reasi and 163 including 127 recoveries from Kishtwar. As per the daily information bulletin, 391,304 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 41,318 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 7,422 persons are in isolation. According to the bulletin, 293,650 persons have completed surveillance period and 48,442 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 717,110 samples are available. Out of 717,110 the number of samples tested negative stands at 692,213 while as 24,897 have been tested positive, among them 7,422 are active and 17,003 persons have recovered—(KNO)
